Transfer Benches

Transfer Benches

Facility may change into agony, if the real caution and care is not observed. Same is the case with the bathtubs. The wonderful tiny swimming pools, or aqua homes, where people love to spend a good amount of their spare time, may hurt you, if you are not careful enough to go inside and come out of the bathtubs. The shining, smooth, but slippery surface of the bathtubs can injure the user, as all the chances are there of his downfall, if he is little careless. The problem is still aggravated and worsened, if the user suffers from a physical disability or frailty. More care is required for those special people, who are little dependent on others for their very basic physical needs. The wise researchers of the manufacturing companies thought over this issue and tried their best to bring about the solution in the form of transfer benches. The transfer benches help in making transfers in and out of the bathtub in a safer and more comfortable manner.  Designed, while keeping in view the special needs of the very special people, these transfer benches help the users a lot in getting in and out of the bathtubs.  Normally, a Transfer Bench is placed with one side in the tub and the other on the outside. This position of the transfer bench helps the user to slide across the seat into the bathtub. Slipping very easily into the bathtub had been the dream of all users, which only the transfer benches could make true.

The use of these transfer benches requires a little tricky approach. Keeping in view all the dangers, one may be exposed to, during the shifting process, various features have been added to these transfer benches. A modern transfer bench is equipped with almost all the facilities, required for a safe shift into and outside the bathtub. The unique feature of a perfect and latest transfer bench is the swiveling seat. Whether the user is transferring from a standing position, or from a wheelchair, the position of the seat makes it easier to approach. The seat can pivots 90º and has a double safety lock option to allow the seat to lock in position for a more secure transfer. Another option is also available, i.e. a seat belt for additional security. There are handles and brackets placed on the transfer benches to facilitate the shifting into and out of the bathtub.

However, to give the user a complete liberty of action, during the shifting process, the manufacturers provide the option of adjustable and removable handles and brackets, which can be assembled on either end of the bench. This bath transfer bench spans across the rim of the tub or shower, keeping the bench half inside, while leaving the other half outside the tub. The bather sits on the bench on the outside of the tub and then slides the seat into the tub. The bather still must lift their legs into the tub, but they can do this one at a time from the seated position.

While purchasing a transfer bench, every user must consider a few points, very necessarily, which include the review of the distance from the bathroom floor to the tub's top edge, the distance from inside the tub to the tub's top edge, the difference between these two distances etc. Moreover, you need to consider, whether or not you require a bench that can adjust to provide a level surface, in case the difference between the two distances is really great.
