Scooter Lifts

Scooter Lifts

No handicapped person may like to be separated from the great caregiver and the facilitator, the comrade in his wanderings from one place to the other, i.e. his power or motorized wheelchair or the mobility scooter.  However, we need to remember always that these apparatuses are designed for the indoor or limited use, mostly and therefore cannot be used for traveling for the longer distances, or on the inter city routes. Moreover, these may not function to facilitate the user in all types of terrains, due to the limited and specific use. A user may have to switch over to the other means of transportation for longer distances, even then eh may prefer to carry his eternal partner, i.e. the wheelchair or the mobility scooter with him, which may be helpful in the indoor or shorter distance mobility. Wishing so is easier, but loading the wheelchair or the mobility scooter in a vehicle and carrying it to other places can be hazardous. Special effort and energy may be required to do so; even we must not forget that technique is also important in this regard.   Scooter Lifts is the device, which is specially designed to meet to meet this problem. The  scooter lifts help the people to lift a scooter, raise it to the surface or floor level of the to vehicle and load it into the vehicle very easily. The scooter lifts perform this job in a comfortable manner, without causing any damage to the wheelchair or the mobility scooter, or any injury or harm to the persons loading it.

The scooter lifts are available in different models and designs. The basic difference among the various designs is obviously of the technology used and the techniques employed. There is a wide and carefully chosen selection ranging from mechanical solutions i.e. the Tilt-A-Rack models to fully assisted power models where the user does nothing more than pushing a button to load a scooter. Some models carry the unit attached to a hitch on the back of the vehicle, while other models lift the mobility product into the trunk of the car or back of the van. The experts can help the users to find the right model to meet their exact lifting needs.  Different companies guide the users about the selection of the scooter lift and all this information is just at a distance of one call from the user. The users can call the companies to seek help in determining which model will work best for their vehicle, their mobility equipment and their physical capabilities.

The scooter lifts are workable with special types of vehicles and do not suit every vehicle very often, due to the limited space options. Installing power wheelchair and scooter lifts may require drilling into the trunk thus compromising the storage space of the vehicle, or wiring the unit directly to the car battery. An expert and crafty work may be required for installing these, however, a few new models may easily attach to the third-row seat hardware in many mini-vans, and can be operated using a rechargeable battery, making it a snap to install yourself.
