Lifting Cushions Information

There is a real problem of the mobility for the very special members of the society, who do not enjoy the independence in this regard. A plethora of reasons may be ailing these people to such an extent that may require the assistance of the friends, caregivers, associates and comrades. Most of the time, they may also require the help of the special equipment and apparatus for their very simple mobility needs. However, the presence of such apparatus and devices never just finishes the need for any human assistance, though this dependence on the human resources can be reduced to the minimum, by a willful effort and skillful use of the equipment available.  Normally the experts design it, keeping in view the very special needs of the users, who depend on this apparatus to a great extent.  One of these useful apparatus is the lifting cushions, which help the sick and old people in getting into and out of the normal furniture and other apparatus like normal wheelchairs etc, which may, otherwise require a lot of effort to rise. Actually, with the help of the lifting cushions, a special person enjoys a lot of ease, without depending a little on the fellow caregivers.

The lifting cushions cater for the problem arising out of the difference of the surface levels of the two apparatuses or the furniture items, i.e. the present one and the other on which, the person is to be shifted. As evident from the name, a lifting cushion lifts the body of the dependent special person in an easy and comfortable manner to the desired level and is raised or lowered to the level of the other apparatus and places him  conveniently on the other apparatus. The lifting cushions are really helpful in the cases, where a special person is ailed to the maximum extent and even is unable to lift himself and be seated comfortably. Lift cushions assist individuals with decreased upper and lower body strength to gently lower themselves into a chair or sofa and give them a boost when standing from the chairs and other furniture items, especially from the furniture like armchairs.

The lifting cushions are available in a variety of colours, designs, types and price ranges. A few lifting cushions are powered as well by different techniques and methodologies. These may be operated by a number of methods including electric power, air compressors, and pneumatic struts etc. A few modern cushions operated with electric and air compressors lift 100% of the user's weight for those special people, who need more assistance, due to the greater weakness or disease. A few cushions utilizing pneumatic struts lift up to 80% of the user’s weight, requiring those capable to participate more actively in the standing motion. This can help to maintain the upper and lower body strength of the user, without putting much load on the nerves of the special user. The lifting cushions normally give the user a lift from two to nine inches, depending upon the requirement of the user.
